1st up is Spider lily,aka lycoris radicus..My mind always goes to spring flowers when the holidays are over and one of my favorite flowers is the spider lily!
These are easy to grow and have naturalized here in the south,and are native to Asia,Lycoris Radiata is sometimes hardy down to zone 5 or 6 (be sure to mulch in zone 6 and lower).Most times they will bloom the following year after transplanting. They have green foilage in winter.
Plant bulbs in ground about 21/2 inches deep and in a few months you will enjoy the beauty of the red spider lily.You do not have to dig up each year they will go dormant and return the following year.They will reproduce more baby bulbs that you can replant,just dig up and separate..
When it gets ready to bloom a single shoot will come up about a foot and will form the spider lily on top.
It blooms in partial shade as well as full sun!

Taking pictures and don't drink and drive!Happy New Years Eve
Happy New Year's eve everyone!Hope your day is starting well.The little one's are asleep still and i have a few minutes to blog hop.What are your plan's tonight?Mine are family based..lol..Me and the kids and maybe the neighbors will be popping fireworks tonight,if rain allows.We live in the country so we can legally still do this. ;)I don't drink (alcohol) thank God,have not in 8 years now.Found it was more fun to find enjoying life on my own,not alcohol induced!Grand kids deserved more out of me than that....so...........I will have to get camera batteries charged up,i do enjoy taking pictures,capturing memories on print.Pictures are important to me.About 14 years ago now our home burnt down,lost EVERYTHING but the clothes we had on and our lives of course..thank God..The only thing i truly missed was my pictures and my son's musical equipment that he had gotten from his grandfather.These things were irreplaceable!I enjoy capturing the kids laughter,their smiles,milestones,all these are treasured moments.I have photographed,weddings,parties,shows,concerts,and more...None if these compare to the smiles of the kids...

Fairy Tale Brownie Review! Yum Yum
I have to tell you about some wonderful brownies we got around Christmas!This are top on the list for my family .They are ..Fairy Tale Gourmet Brownies
To begin with they come in a lovely holiday box and each brownie is indivijually packaged for presentaion and freshness.We got an assorted box and this came with the following flavors.Pecan,peanut butter ,caramel,choclate chip,origional and white chocolate.I can say i sampled everyone of them except the white choclate,which my daughter devored christmas morning,and they are simply ...aahhhhh,,delicious!My favorite was the caramel,but all of them are super.These taste like they were fresh and cooked just for us.
My granddaughter summer leigh anne enjoyed half of one and as you can see that was not enough.The choclate on the mouth gives her away as she is trying to get more!Which she did!

This saddens me
hello EVERYONE,thanks for coming by.
I have a lot on mind right now,things i want to accomplish in the coming year.I am not one for new years resolutions,i don't really think i have ever thought on it before honestly.But this year is different.Maybe because i am getting older ,47 now,maybe just because i am unhappy at the affairs of our nation and it's leaders,just things i see around me happen in general.
I am saddened by the turning away from God ,Jesus and the Holy Spirit that people and our nation have done.We stand in awe at all the bad things happening and at how people have become so cruel.Well that's easy,you take good out and bad moves in! and move in it has.I am disappointed in what the president and congress have done,i am saddened that our president is leading people and nations for a one world government and America stands by thinking it is not going to happen.
I am hopeful when i see the smiles on the grand kids and other children and then a part of me cries for so many that does not have arms to hold them when they are afraid,or someone who cares when they hurt.I am saddened by so many parents/caregivers that are abusing and neglecting their babies.
I am hurt deeply by what drugs and alcohol are doing to our families as well as the user.I have always thought i was born in the wrong era..1880 looks better and better than with the exception of being with my family and seeing the prophecy of the bible coming to happen!Just amazes me so many people are blind to it.
I want to be a better mom,grandma,daughter,sister,aunt,cousin,friend ,but mostly i want to draw closer to God.When i do that i will become all the other i want to be.

Another sunday in the south~planning easter already
Hi and thanks for coming by!
Church was good today and we had a very nice and fun time in Sunday school but i have fought the most awful headache all day.To the point that i am fighting throwing up as well.This is awful.When Rita came and got the boys i didn't even get off the couch!I was so ,so sick .I fell asleep on the couch after that for a couple hours and Jeff woke me going to town.I ask him to get me some alka seltzer plus,goody powders and a coke.I pray that helps.
The headache is a little better now but still it is there and i am just weak all over.I am stuffy in my head also.I don't know it could be a severe sinus attack..i don't know.i just know it is awful.
Next week we will begin planning our Easter play at church i have high hopes for that.I think it will be a great experience for them and me.Easter is a great time.A time to reflect on what Jesus did for us and to remember he will return.He will return for you and me to save us from all this pain down here.What are you planning for Easter?Besides the church worship and play we have a family and friend Easter party here at the old place.It is always fun,we have dinner on the grounds under he large magnolia trees and then play games with kids and adults and then the big egg hunt for the kids...

Santa knocked the power off for 2 hours christmas morning!
Hello everyone!
Hope you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas! We had a really good time and we were blessed in more ways than one.i think my brother said it best when he said there was no reason for the adults to exchange presents we had been given the best present here this year we could have from God.Our whole family as here with the exception of my daughter in law Julie and granddaughter Charlie Mae,they are in Arizona this Christmas with her family.All us siblings and their kids and grands were there with our mom.That was the best we could have had.In this day and time that is a hard thing to come by that we have not been taken away from each other by death or any other thing.It is a blessing indeed and i thank you Lord!
We were at Rita's Christmas morning when kids awoke for presents and Santa flew too ow when he left and knocked out all the power for 4 city blocks in town for 2 hours!So we opened presents by the light coming out of the windows alone..lol..Yep Rudolph was not watching close enough when they flew into the sky from billy kolby and summers house...That story i bet they remember for years,,
The kids were blessed with plenty of gifts and smiles were abound!I do love the spirit of Christmas.We then traveled to my mom's house where we all met and had a bountiful feast of everything we could have wanted..God did bless it once again and the weather was pretty nice too.
I do miss my daughter Julie and baby charlie Mae but they return in Jan. and we shall have their Christmas then...Darrell misses them so and it was sad for him Christmas,i can just imagine....but it is wonderful that they can spend time with Julies dad,sister's and friends there.Merry Christmas Arizona!

ok people,now our pets are are putting off more carbon footprint than an SUV!The environmental footprint left by our pets is just way too high!WHEN ARE WE GOING TO STOP THIS NONSENSE AND LET OUR GOVERNMENT KNOW WE ARE NOT THIS STUPID!Dogs eat too much meat and cats eat too much wildlife...lol..yea my cat eats the rats that spreads disease ..RIGHT!
so what are we suppose to do,eat them!?
Sometimes ,no a lot of times lately ,i wonder who these people are that are in charge of all these ''new findings''?what planet did they come from?They come up with this this crap for their own hidden agendas and laugh at us at home on how dumb we are are and how easily we can be led to slaughter!WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!
this IS LIKE THE HEALTH CARE BILL THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA IS PUSHING...they are doing a test on it today and looks like they are going to slam it through for the president tomorrow so he can say it was a success on the state of the union address coming up!Even though the American people are against it,the majority,they are pushing it like we want it and it will be good for us.NO! i DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR A BABY TO BE SLAUGHTERED IN AN ABORTION..and yes we will when this passes,just wait and see.They are trying to make it look good by giving different states extra money for medicare etc..Who is paying for this people?We are !We will be taxed to death..or starvation one!You better hope you have cattle,pigs,chickens and plenty of ammo to protect your home,family and food very soon!You think i am crazy?Just wait and see.The great America we love is falling fast..Well that's what happens when we move God out,evil prevails!

Sometimes ,no a lot of times lately ,i wonder who these people are that are in charge of all these ''new findings''?what planet did they come from?They come up with this this crap for their own hidden agendas and laugh at us at home on how dumb we are are and how easily we can be led to slaughter!WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!
this IS LIKE THE HEALTH CARE BILL THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA IS PUSHING...they are doing a test on it today and looks like they are going to slam it through for the president tomorrow so he can say it was a success on the state of the union address coming up!Even though the American people are against it,the majority,they are pushing it like we want it and it will be good for us.NO! i DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR A BABY TO BE SLAUGHTERED IN AN ABORTION..and yes we will when this passes,just wait and see.They are trying to make it look good by giving different states extra money for medicare etc..Who is paying for this people?We are !We will be taxed to death..or starvation one!You better hope you have cattle,pigs,chickens and plenty of ammo to protect your home,family and food very soon!You think i am crazy?Just wait and see.The great America we love is falling fast..Well that's what happens when we move God out,evil prevails!
Have you ever known a time when bills are being passed that the American people are against one behind the other and nothings stopping them?I am afraid nothing short of a rebellion will stop this administration now.And not too mention he is pushing the NEW WORLD ORDER!Don't think so,just google that and you will be floored!
I know all of this has to happen to fulfill the bible,but i also know prayer can hold things off when the time is not right.
This is a scary time for a lot of people and a lot of people are going to be fearful when they find out all of this and more is happening right behind their back...Time is running out to prevent the worse thing this country has ever saw,,,Well maybe not.The native Americans were done this way and America allowed it to happen...I guess we will see it come around on the people again....

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE...
dON'T YA LOVE SAYING THAT? i DO...
Something about this time of year that should just lighten your heart and spirits.Maybe because it is the time of year we remember the birth of our savior Jesus.He gave the ultimate gift.Yes i know this did not begin as that,so what!Now that is what it is and i see nothing wrong with taking holidays and turning them into a time to celebrate Jesus....;) after all the devil tries to take all the good things God did and making them bad...RIGHT!
A fellow blogger came by and ask what was red velvet cake,so i am posting a wonderful recipe on this post for it.My blogger friend is Lee the Hot Flash Queen ,take a moment and go by!
The red velvet cake is yummy and this is the closest online recipe i could find..It is VERY close.If you have not tried this heirloom recipe ,this christmas would be a great time to share with your family.Let me know how you like it.My mom always makes this cake for us and we love it!enjoy...
Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients:
the cake:
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 TBSP cocoa powder
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 c. buttermilk
2 TBSP (1 oz.) red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. white distilled vinegar
FROSTING
12 oz. cream cheese, softened
12 oz. butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 c. confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans (optional)
Directions:
1. For the cake: Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa, and salt into a medium bowl.
3. Beat eggs, oil, buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until well combined. Add dry ingredients and beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
4. Divide batter evenly between 3 greased and floured 8" round cake pans. (I only made a two layer cake, so some of my batter went unused.)
5. Bake cakes, rotating halfway through, until a toothpick inserted in the center of each cake comes out clean, 25–30 minutes. Let cakes cool 5 minutes, then invert each onto a plate, then invert again onto a cooling rack. Let cakes cool completely.
6. For the frosting: Beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until combined. Add sugar and beat until frosting is light and fluffy, 5–7 minutes.
7. Put 1 cake layer on a cake plate, level off with a serrated knife, and spread one-quarter of the frosting on top. Set another layer on top, level, and repeat frosting. Set remaining layer on top, level, and frost top and sides with the remaining frosting. Press pecans into the sides of the cake, if desired. **Tip: after leveling cake, turn it upside down to reduce numbers of crumbs. I also did a crumb coat on the outside, let it set for ten minutes, then finished with remaining frosting.
~~~Chill for 2 hours to set frosting.~~~

I am almost finished!

I think my favorite is getting the tree.Me and my family go to a certain area very near here and we just walk on the land till we find the tree we all like.It is a fun tradition each year..i also enjoy the cookie baking and going to moms on Christmas
3.) When do you put up your Tree?
This weekend,that way the tree will not start dying on us before Christmas.
4.) Are you a Black Friday shopper?
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!
5.) Do you Travel at Christmas or Stay home?

6.) What is your funniest Christmas memory?
When i was 15 my little brother(who has a slight mental problem)cracked me over the head with a stick when i started in the house! yep its funny now... ;)

snow and giveaways!
Good morning friends!
Yep up bright and early at 5 this morning getting the fire going and brought the heater from the kitchen to the front room till it warms up.I have 3 of the grands in their pallet in the floor,i guess i have ruined them with pallets..They don't ever want to sleep in beds.lol.i was the same way when i was small though.I so enjoyed laying in front of the fireplace,go to sleep watching the shadows from the fire dancing around the room.The grands are getting so big.Billy is 7,Kolby age 4,and the girls Summer and Charlie Mae will be 2 in spring.My only great nephew will be 2 in may as well.All 3 of them are less than a month in age apart!How is your Christmas shopping and planning?Most of mine is finished,also thanks to several great giveaways that i won that helped me this year!I also have a small church play that we are working on with the kids.I am looking forward to it.HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!
Such a great time to reflect on what is important to you and where your heart lies.GOD IS FIRST ,THEN MY FAMILY. I hope my life does reflect that ,i truly do.
Snow came very close again ,but alas no flakes to land on the tongue.The kids were so hoping it would come.Maybe a little later on,south Alabama is due a good snow storm.Have not had one since my kids were younger,i think it was in 92.

8 inches of rain and a few giveaways
good evening friends!
did you get rain?We got over 6 inches of rain this morning in less than 8 hours!Rivers ,creeks,fields,roads,they are full and overflowing!Mom says they are watching her pond very closely today,the pond below her ruptured and was shooting out of a 2 foot hole when i went by this morning.May not be a pond there now i am afraid.I had a cardiologist app. this morning in Enterprise AL,40 miles away,at 8 am .So we left in pouring rain,25 mph winds and was storming.I get there right on time,took twice as long to get there due to weather and rain on roadway just to find out the Dr. had called and told his receptionist to reschedule everyone due to weather!!!!HELLO!!!!!WEATHER???dare they mean what i had just drove 40 miles in to get there????OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i was so aggravated and disappointed.I am having some problems and really needed to see him..But now it will be the 8Th before i can....
Kolby,age 4 in preschool,his play at school was also rescheduled..I was disappointed in that.He is so excited!When they do it i will post pics.Tomorrow night is Christmas parade in town,we will go meet up with the kids and attend.I enjoy the parade every year with them....

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone and Billys update
First off thank you faith imagined to take time to comment to billy,he just went over to say thank you himself,he enjoyed reading your note to him and your prayers..He is out and thank God much better.He had viral phnumonia and stayed a day and night in hospital now home with his meds and here with me and kolby in the living room.We had a wonderful thanksgiving but we did miss Julie and Charlie mae whom is till in Arizona visiting with family there and my great nephew RJ whom was with his mom at their house this year.
Everyone else got to spend some good time together and a feast at dinner.It was a blessing to us all.Robert took the kids out to the pond and played a bit then mom went out there and they fished a bit.The wind and cool air held off until after 3~yes!!!!It was nice and warm with the sun shining brightly.I will share a few pics and thanks for stoppin in..Have a safe and blesses christmas season ahead.May you all find a place in your heart and life for our savior Jesus..our friend Jesus..May God bless us all...

PRAYERS FOR 7 year GRANDSON PLEASE
Hi friends..
just a quick post i am off to stay with 2 of my grandkids while their mom rita is with my 7 year old grandson Billy.He has been running low grade fever several days now and just diagnosed with pnumonia bad in his right lung.Billy is a little praying warrior for other people now i am asking all of you to please pray for little billy....If you would please leave a comment for him and let him know u are thinking and praying for him, i will let him know,,,,,please do this for my little man....

Water is back....giveaways to check out!
good morning friends!
I am so happy to say that hubby finished my water lines last night and i now have how water back in the kitchen!We re ran all lines from hot water tank on..so....... the only incomplete part is to the sink in the bathroom.He has to work 12 hrs. a day through thanksgiving so that means the water will be in there come Friday.I want to put new faucets in the kitchen ,mine are sooooooooo old,but we will see.With the lines running the floor corners AND our floor being cement...well lets just say it was a slow go.We will pour new cement back next weekend.I still have a mess but at least the water to the bathtub and kitchen have returned,and oh yes..the toilet!
But we have done it all ourselves so all it cost was the pipe and pieces we needed and time.So DIY people!lol
Are you getting ready to cook for thanksgiving or do you eat out?I know a lot of people are doing that now.We will all be cooking and meeting up at mom's good lord Will's as my grandma use to say.I am looking forward to that.I do hate that Jeff has to work that day but thank God he has a job.Stacey and Darrell are still job hunting .I pray they find one soon.

Thursday ramblings and giveaways~holiday help
Good afternoon friends!Hope your week is going well.It is a beautiful day here in south alabama but a bit nippy.I just turned on the small heater for a few minutes to take the nip out of the air.Not quite cold enough yet to use the fireplace.I spent a few days over at my oldest son darrell's house.His wife and baby are visiting relatives in Arizona for a few more weeks.We cleaned some and watched tv.It was nice,i visited my brother robert as well while there ,he lives next door.

Back from church-giveaways and blog hoppin
happy lord's day readers!
hope your sunday is great!We had good worship in church and one of the girls,Judy, donated a nice box of crafts to add to our sunday school goodies,just in time for the holidays!Next week we have our Thanksgiving lunch at church and i am really looking forward to that.I love everyone's cooking and the visiting.
So anyone around south central alabama you are invited to new hope babtist church!!!!We are celebrating our 150th anniversary for the church this year...is that not cool!!!!!

STRAIGHTJACKET 4 NIXON MUSIC N GIVEAWAYS
My oldest son came by and spent the evening with me.He is heading to ais playing in crestview Florida.They play there often and have a good time.The locals love to go there as well as some of their followers. show where they are performing tonight in one of his bands.Tonight 50 miles north
They have a show next Saturday in Birmingham Alabama,straight jacket 4 Nixon will be playing that show.Darrell my son is the singer as well as guitarist,and my hubby Jeff is lead guitarist,and adopted son Jason is the drummer and john a friend is the guitarist.They are an awesome band.If you have a moment go by and check em out.Let me know what you think.Some of the music is very heavy while they also have ballad like music,which i love!;) If any one would like a CD let me know..I'll get you one out!

anyway now i am relaxing at the computer again..i got 6 loads of laundry done ,yippee..Tried to get most done.I do not wash clothes on Sunday...nope nope nope..i got that from my grandma..She said if you wash on Sunday or new years you will be washing for the dead soon! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i stay away from that!!!!!
I will be going to spend a day and night with my son Tuesday and wed. of next week.Try help him pick up around the house and just hang with him.He is alone while Julie and Charlie are in Arizona and i know he misses them badly till they return...

Saturday morning is quiet-time for giveaways!
Good morning friends!For the first time in a long time i am not waking up on a saturday with one or more of the grandkids!I am lost people do you hear me....
Strange indeed.Billy has a meeting planned with a pastor in town for a talk.He has an upcoming paper for school(only in 2nd grade!) and he must write it on what he wants to be when he grows up and bilyy wants to be a preacher for God!
Jumping!yea!glory to god!!! I have known as well as others Billy is a blessed little boy of God's and prays for people ,animals ,just whatever!He loves Jesus and after being around him and talking just a few minutes you'd see what i mean.He is a gentle heart with a thought pattern WAY beyong his 7 years!
Anyway he has that meeting coming up with the family friend pastor and will be be visiting another church this sunday and i think Kolby wants to go too.Summer is with the other grandma and my little Miss Charlize Mae is still with momJulie in Arizona visiting with their family there,they will return early December..I miss you girls!!!!I miss them but the times they have there are so very special for them as well as here.I am so glad they are able to have this time together and we all get to mshare in their lives.Darrell is still out of work ,besides his musical jobs parttime.Stacey,daughters fiancee ,has as well been laid off from shut down job.Getting tough but here in the south we are kinda accustomed to things not being simple but a way out always comes if we continue to pray.
So on a saturday morning all along what am i doing?You see it..lol...watching Fox news ,blogging,twittering,and doing some giveaways! ;)
